Április 11-e a magyar költészet napja.
April 11th is the Day of Hungarian Poetry.
Ez a nap különleges, mert ezen a napon született József Attila, az egyik legismertebb magyar költő, 1905-ben.
This day is special because Attila József, one of the most famous Hungarian poets, was born on this day in 1905.
Lehet, hogy már találkoztál is vele ha már jártál Budapesten a Parlamentnél. Itt áll - vagyis ül - bronz szobra és egy részlet a "Dunánál" című verséből.
You may have met him if you’ve been to the Parliament in Budapest. His bronze statue is standing - or rather sitting - there along with an excerpt from his poem “At the Danube”.
"Mintha szivemből folyt volna tova,
zavaros, bölcs és nagy volt a Duna."
As if it flowed straight from my heart,
the Danube was troubled, wise, and great.
A költészet napját 1964 óta ünnepeljük Magyarországon. Ilyenkor iskolákban, könyvtárakban, kulturális helyeken versmondó programokat, felolvasásokat és kiállításokat szerveznek. Sok ember a közösségi oldalakon is megosztja kedvenc versét. Néha még az utcán is lehet olvasni verseket – villamoson, kávézók falán vagy plakátokon.
The Day of Poetry has been celebrated in Hungary since 1964. On this day, schools, libraries, and cultural venues organize poetry recitation programs, readings, and exhibitions. Many people also share their favorite poems on social media. Sometimes you can even read poems on the street – on trams, on the walls of cafes, or on posters.
Ez a nap nemcsak a híres költőkről szól, hanem mindenkiről, aki szereti a verseket. A költészet ilyenkor egy kicsit közelebb kerül hozzánk - a villamoson, egy kávézó falán, vagy talán egy vasútállomáson is olvashatunk verssorokat. A versek segítenek megérteni a nyelvet, az érzéseket, a gondolatokat - és néha saját magunkat is.
This day is not only about famous poets but about everyone who loves poems. On this day, poetry comes a little closer to us – we can read lines of verse on a tram, on the wall of a cafe, or perhaps even at a train station. Poems help us understand language, feelings, thoughts – and sometimes ourselves too.
Ha tanulod a magyar nyelvet, ez a nap jó alkalom arra, hogy olvass egy rövid verset. Nem baj, ha nem értesz mindent - a hangulat, a ritmus és a szavak zenéje is sokat adhat.
If you are learning Hungarian, this day is a good opportunity to read a short poem. It doesn't matter if you don't understand everything - the atmosphere, the rhythm, and the music of the words can also give you a lot.

Ez a kis vers a tavasz érkezéséről szól. Egyszerű szavakkal mondja el, hogyan ébred fel a természet. Ha kezdő vagy, ez egy jó első lépés a magyar költészet világába.
